Coming Home done by travisJhanson Coming Home done by travisJhanson
Done- pretty sure
ok i am all done with it- had to finish it i guess. I like the marks now much better on the walls. I think it adds to the mystic of the whole pic and mood of the piece.

I have two more for this series then i will move on:)
trav

Almost done
Ok this is almost done- I have had a lot more fun with this, than i prob should have. I still have a little bit more to do on this and that is mainly on the markings on the wall. I want to create a more hand painted effect there. So I will be testing out some new techniques there.

The crystals and the blues came out better than i had originally hoped. I have always been able to see this in my head- I just am really happy that the vision up there is translating pretty well.

So far the warmth of the outside of the cave really makes the pic for me. There is something about limiting the color palate that has given this picture the right mood.

I plan to update more later- possibly monday. I still have another b/w up and finish the artist pic. Maybe I'll tackle the dino pic as well. We shall see.

Coming Home Highlights
still alot to be done - in fact a whole bunch but i finally am beginning to feel the drive to finish some of these older pieces.

Coming Home

Here are the basic Flats to another 18x24 print i am working on. I have to a few of these to finish off my portfolio. I will post more tomorrow- I am tired and hungry.

I am going to have fun with this - also i will be updating page 6 soon on inks to the snow race.

I am doing the color work on this one- I cannot afford to get rusty:) I wanted to create two unique worlds in this pic with the colors.

concept and story
well i would say that this would fit with the sitting with the ancients piece. I will prob do a third in this series of this young lady as she finds where she belongs.

Hey Trav, can one buy a print of this work? I didn't find it on the website you linked to... I think I've had it as a desktop wallpaper for at least one year :aww:

Awesome piece! The cave is wonderful with the stone faces, the crystals and the markings. The color contrast of blue and yellow works very well too.

Yeah. I have to agree with your "adding to your work" comment. Keeping the coloring under control is probably something I should start doing.

it is really making a difference i think- there is so much to be done on perfecting the craft i sometimes badger myself with the question where do i start?:) than the answer comes from the beginning.

I like your work a lot and look forward to seeing what new things come out of your head

Now that I see the finished piece I am even more stunned. The symbols catch the eye more whereas before you added smut the vanished a bit in the stone. Turned out really great:w00t!:

The marks on the walls look great! The way you ended up doing them was a good choice, although it might have been nice to see some softer textures like that throughout the piece. The sooty spatters kind of stick out against the smoothness of the rest of your colors.

But really minor stuff, that. The bear is still my favorite part!

yeah i thought about softing up the background as well but in the end i held back. Maybe i might go back and rework it a little. though it might be better to keep it like that bowl of chili.:)

beautiful work. Up close the outline color you used on the crystals looks a little wonky to me, but the whole concept is great.

The mood is really well set with the warm outside colors vs the cold inside colors. I really like the color pallete you've used :). I really love your comic style, it's so apart and unique, not like anything I have seen around here yet.
